Kiddush cup with five legs

Kiddush Cup with Five Legs

Sterling Silver, Stainless Steel, 24K Gold

This cup was a commisssion made for a Bar Mitzvah boy.  The boy's family has five members, which is why I chose to have the cup be supported by five legs.  The five legs is also a reference to the Torah.

The idea I am trying to convey here is that the ritual of Kiddush is supported by Torah and Family.

I made the cup itself with a rounded bottom for two reasons. When my father made kiddush, he would not hold the cup with his fingers, but he let it rest in the palm of his hand.  Also, because the bottom is round the cup (read the "Kiddush") will not stand on it's own, and "needs" the support of Torah and Family.
