Hanukkah Menorah (2011)

Stainless Steel, Sterling Silver, 24K Gold

The text on the base of this menorah is the prayer Haneirot Halalu, which is spoken at the lighting of the Hanukkah candles. I have used a version based on the Chabad Lubavitch prayer book.

The font I used is based on the Hebrew style of writing called STA"M. STA"M is an acronym for "Sifrei Torah, Tefillin and Mezuzot,". This style of writing is used only for sacred documents, such as torah scrolls or the scrolls inside tefillin and mezuzot. This style has so-called "crowns" on many of the letters.

Since I was not writing a sacred scroll, I did not think it would be appropriate to use the exact same font. I edited the font, by erasing the "crowns".
