The center stone is a "Context Cut" diamond, which I consider the "Zen" of diamonds.  It is the reduction of the diamond to it's most basic form, i.e. the octahedron, and has only 8 facets.  It does however possess a remarkable amount of brilliance.   The cut was invented by the internationally known gem designer and cutter Bernd Munsteiner. 

The stone was cut and later fine tuned by a company in Germany.  The stones are now produced in Germany by this company in small quantities, and are very hard to come by.

In 1997, the cut received one of Germanys highest design awards, "Der rote Punkt" (the red dot)
